How Andy Proposed: December 25th 2007 It was a complete surprise. Andy's family has a wonderful tradition for Christmas. They have a big family dinner on Christmas Eve and at 12:00am they open their gifts. This year Andy brought me along to take part in that tradition . We didn't finish opening gifts until around 2:30 in the morning after which we gathered up our loot , dog (we brought Sukie along) said our goodbyes and headed home. When we got home we were both really tired but I asked Andy if we could open at least one of each others gifts. I had asked Andy for Diamond earrings for Christmas and was hoping to wear them for dinner that day. Well you can never open just one gift so we ended up opening all the gifts. We saved the big gifts for last, mine for him was a new winter coat and his for me (I thought) was a printer. With no small boxes in sight I thought maybe the earings were in my stocking downstairs. I was about to say "hey lets open our stockings" when Andy said he had one more gift for me. He pulled out a small box tucked under the couch. He said as he gave me the box that he always wants to give me what I ask for. I got excited cause I thought it was the earrings. I started talking about how I thought he didn't get them for me and how much I really wanted them. As I unwrapped it I remarked how lovely the box they came in was. Then I opened the box and I saw Diamonds but not in earrings, in a ring. The first thing out of my mouth was "this isn't earrings, this is a ring, what is this". Then Andy got down on one knee and said how much he loves me and all he wants to do is make me happy for the rest of my life and would I marry him. I was so surprised that it took me a minute to respond cause I was in shock. Then I finally said YES, of course. We hugged and kissed, he put the ring on my finger and stayed up the rest of the night talking. He told me about asking for my parents blessing and that he only told his brother Joe and showed him the ring. It was a wonderful night, I couldn't have imagined it any better. We are both so sublimely happy and can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together.
